Small-scale miners call for probe into $200m anti-galamsey spending

The NCASSM demands an independent audit The NCASSM demands an independent audit

The National Concerned Association of Small-Scale Miners (NCASSM) is calling for a full investigation into the management of over $200 million allocated to fight illegal mining.

In a statement, President Michael Kwadwo Peprah expressed concerns over mismanagement of funds intended for tools like drones, GPS systems, and the GalamStop app.

Despite substantial investments, including $2 million for drones and $1 million for app development, little progress has been made, with drones missing and equipment unaccounted for.

The NCASSM demands an independent audit, accountability for misused funds, and legal action against responsible individuals.

The association insists that effective anti-galamsey measures must be transparent and involve input from industry stakeholders.
