Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has directed the special committee investigating the recent ministerial vetting chaos to suspend its sitting with immediate effect until further notice.
The directive came midway through the testimony of Gifty Jiagge-Gobah, the Parliament Clerk, who had been at the receiving end of a verbal outburst from Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Emmanuel Bedzrah, the committee chairman, clarified that the suspension was not the committee's decision, but rather a request from the Clerk of Parliament pending further instructions from the Speaker.
Several prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, and Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, had appeared before the committee that day.
