The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has revealed that some invitees attending the vetting of ministerial nominees were forced to sleep within Parliament’s premises due to last Thursday’s chaotic proceedings.
The Appointments Committee was unable to vet all scheduled nominees on January 30, leading to stranded guests who had traveled from distant locations.
Testifying before the committee probing the incident, Agbodza described the situation as dire, stating that some guests slept in open spaces, while others sought shelter in MPs’ offices and even washrooms.
He noted that the unexpected delay forced the vetting of all ten nominees in one session, as postponing it would have worsened the crisis.
A parliamentary committee is currently investigating the disruptions that led to physical confrontations and property damage.
