Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has described the Operational Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee as a “masterstroke” to support the struggling Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Speaking on TV3 on December 21, Kpebu praised the committee for enhancing transparency and countering political interference.
“The OSP lacks independence due to an ineffective Act. This committee bridges that gap,” Kpebu said, accusing political appointees of stifling investigations.
However, Ghana Integrity Initiative Executive Director Mary Addah criticized the approach, citing weak institutional backing. “Collecting complaints without action plans is ineffective,” she argued.
Both Kpebu and Addah called for reforms to empower anti-corruption bodies and urged the President-elect to prioritize systemic changes over symbolic gestures, highlighting public frustration with Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts.
