Nsoatreman FC has officially withdrawn from the Ghana Premier League following a violent clash with Asante Kotoko during their Matchday 19 game at Nana Kronamansah Park on Sunday.
The incident resulted in the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, who was stabbed by unknown assailants.
Joel Gyempeh, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), confirmed that the club informed the GFA of its decision to withdraw.
Both clubs are cooperating with investigations, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Lydia Donkor has been assigned to lead the inquiry.
In response, the GFA has suspended Nsoatreman FC’s home venue indefinitely. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for Asante Kotoko.
