Environment Minister Dr. Murtala Mohammed has dismissed claims that the NDC government has failed in tackling illegal mining (galamsey), stressing that they have been in office for just two months.
Speaking on JoyNews PM Express, he argued that judging the government’s efforts prematurely is unfair, given the eight-year struggle against galamsey.
He revealed that the process to repeal the controversial mining Legislative Instrument (L.I.) has begun, with legal steps already underway.
Dr. Mohammed assured that the bill to repeal the L.I. could be laid before Parliament as early as this week, depending on scheduling.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling **President Mahama’s 120-day anti-galamsey pledge**, urging patience as actions unfold.
