Emmanuel Bedzrah, Chair of the special committee investigating the vetting disruptions, has clarified that the suspension of public hearings was initiated by the Minority, not Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The committee halted proceedings on February 5, with initial claims suggesting it was based on directives from the Clerk of Parliament, awaiting further instructions from the Speaker.
However, Bedzrah, in an interview on Channel One Newsroom, revealed that Bagbin had no prior knowledge of the suspension. After consulting key parliamentary leaders, he confirmed that the Speaker had not ordered the halt.
Instead, he asserted that the Minority pushed for the decision. He maintained that the way forward now rests on Bagbin’s return to provide clear directives.
