NDC’s Director of Legal Affairs, Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, has justified President Mahama’s decision to establish the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) committee instead of a Commission of Inquiry.
Speaking on TV3, he cited Article 41(f) of the 1992 Constitution, emphasizing the duty to prevent misuse of public resources.
He argued that past legal rulings, particularly the Ghana@50 case, showed that a Commission of Inquiry could limit future prosecutions.
Tamekloe clarified that the ORAL committee, including legal experts Martin Kpebu and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is an information-gathering body, not an investigative unit.
The final report, due Monday, will guide President Mahama’s next steps, potentially involving the Attorney General for further action.
