John Dramani Mahama, NDC’s presidential candidate, has criticized the government for failing to tackle illegal mining, blaming party executives and officials for being complicit.
Speaking to the Western Regional House of Chiefs, he highlighted the environmental devastation caused by “galamsey,” particularly to water bodies.
Mahama pledged to exclude miners from his administration and vowed to dismiss appointees found involved in illegal mining.
He also emphasized collaboration with traditional leaders to combat the menace and protect Ghana’s natural resources effectively.
