IMANI Africa’s Vice President, Kofi Bentil, has urged the government to focus on preventing corruption rather than recovering stolen public funds.
In a social media post, he proposed renaming the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative to emphasize prevention instead of retrieval.
"Ghana needs ORAL, but change the ‘R’ to ‘P’—Prevent! I hope they succeed and are retained in some form," Bentil wrote.
He also criticized existing anti-corruption agencies, calling them ineffective and urging their dissolution.
His comments come after the ORAL team, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, presented a report to President Mahama detailing 2,417 corruption-related complaints.
The report has been forwarded to the Attorney General for investigation, but Bentil believes prevention should be the priority.
