Asiedu Nketia dismisses Ofori-Atta's fugitive status as political noise

NDC Chairman Asiedu Nketia has downplayed the declaration of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive, calling it mere noise that will fade away if not pursued seriously.

Speaking on Radio Gold, he argued that without the Attorney General’s active involvement, the case could become a nine-day wonder.

Nketia reiterated his longstanding position that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) lacks the strength to combat corruption effectively.

He proposed separating the Attorney General’s role from the Ministry of Justice to allow for independent prosecutions.

The OSP declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive after he failed to appear when summoned, with his lawyers citing medical treatment abroad—a reason the OSP has refused to accept.
