Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga, has strongly condemned an attack on his private residence by angry youth amid renewed tensions in Bawku.
Speaking from abroad, he revealed that the group vandalized and attempted to burn his home following deadly clashes between civilians and police.
While expressing sympathy for the victims and acknowledging public frustration, Ayariga insisted that violence is not the answer. He dismissed social media attacks as part of a political smear campaign, vowing not to be distracted.
Ayariga reaffirmed his support for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s mediation in the chieftaincy dispute and backed President Mahama’s continued commitment to peace efforts. He called for calm, urging cooperation with security agencies to preserve lives while the peace process continues.
