Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has called for calm and unity amid renewed violence in Bawku, which has led to fatalities and property destruction, including the alleged burning of MP Mahama Ayariga’s private home.
In a statement issued April 13, Agyapong condemned the tribal tensions fueling the unrest and urged the youth to avoid reprisals, stressing that no grievance justifies loss of life.
He commended President Mahama for activating a peace process under the leadership of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, originally initiated by former President Akufo-Addo.
Agyapong praised the initiative as a symbol of national unity and urged all parties to support the mediation efforts.
“When there is peace in Bawku, there is peace in Ghana,” he noted, calling for collective responsibility in restoring lasting stability.
