NPP National Communication Team member George Ayisi has strongly criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for overstepping its legal mandate by declaring former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted.
Speaking on GHOne TV, Ayisi argued that the OSP’s role is strictly to investigate and prosecute, not to declare individuals fugitives.
His comments follow Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng’s announcement that Ofori-Atta must return to Ghana to face corruption-related inquiries.
Ayisi maintained that legal processes must be followed, emphasizing that only a court can rule on someone’s fugitive status.
His remarks add to growing concerns over the OSP’s approach to handling high-profile corruption cases, raising questions about its interpretation of legal authority.
