A local drinking spot in Binduri Down, a suburb of the Binduri District in the Upper East Region, came under attack on the evening of Sunday, March 23, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on patrons, killing three and injuring three others.
The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants, who arrived on a motorbike, indiscriminately fired at customers before escaping.
While the motive remains uncertain, sources speculate the attack may be linked to a recent shooting in Atuba, a neighboring community, where two people were killed.
That incident is believed to be connected to the prolonged Bawku conflict.
Since the resurgence of ethnic clashes between the Kusasis and Mamprusis over chieftaincy disputes in October 2024, approximately 79 lives have been lost.
