ILAPI boss questions OSP’s independence over Ken Ofori-Atta’s fugitive status

Peter Bismark Kwofie, Executive Director of the policy think tank Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI), has raised concerns over the timing of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) decision to declare former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.

He argues that the move exposes flaws in the OSP’s independence, questioning why no action was taken while Ofori-Atta was in office.

Kwofie believes the declaration should have happened before the 2024 elections, suggesting political influence in the process.

The OSP recently named Ofori-Atta as a suspect in corruption cases linked to the National Cathedral and Strategic Mobilisation Limited, vowing to use all means to bring him back.
