Interior Minister Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has reinforced the government's ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons in Bawku and its surrounding areas.

He warned that individuals found in possession of such items would face arrest and prosecution. This statement followed the renewal of the curfew in Bawku, which now runs from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, effective March 3, 2025.

The government urged local leaders and residents to exercise restraint and seek peaceful resolutions to ongoing tensions.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah met with Muntaka Mubarak and Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga to review the security situation.

He reaffirmed President Mahama’s commitment to resolving the Bawku conflict through traditional peace mechanisms, emphasizing the need to restore stability in the area.
