President John Dramani Mahama has urged residents of Bawku and its surrounding areas to embrace peace and rebuild trust to end the region’s ongoing conflict.
His appeal comes in the wake of recent violence that has claimed about 56 lives, prompting a curfew from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Speaking at Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration at the Jubilee House, Mahama stressed the need for peace, emphasizing that future generations deserve a stable and prosperous homeland.
He encouraged residents to move beyond past grievances and embrace reconciliation.
“This is not about forgetting the past but rising above it. Let us renew friendships and choose peace,” he urged, calling for collective efforts to restore harmony in the region.
