Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership, questioning his effectiveness in managing national security during President Akufo-Addo’s absences.
Amidu pointed to ongoing violence in Bawku and other northern regions, citing the deaths of 23 people in Bawku and eight in the North East Region as evidence of a failure to maintain peace.
He accused Dr. Bawumia of prioritizing his presidential campaign over addressing the escalating crisis, describing this as a dereliction of constitutional duty.
Amidu further alleged a deliberate neglect of northern security by the government for political gain, calling it a “government-generated resurgent fratricide.”
Urging accountability, Amidu challenged Dr. Bawumia to present concrete achievements in national security, moving beyond “rhetorical campaigning.”
