Tensions have erupted again in Bawku after a civilian was fatally shot during a clash between two rival ethnic groups, the Kusasi and Mamprusi.

The chaos began when Kusasi youth reportedly tried to block Mamprusi traders from entering the market.

Police moved in to control the unrest, but gunfire broke out, leaving one person dead and two injured.

The incident sparked outrage among the Kusasi youth, who retaliated by setting fire to a police vehicle and the private residence of the Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Adamu Seidu, in Manga.

The violence has triggered fear and panic, forcing many residents into hiding as tension continues to mount.

No official statement has been released yet as authorities work to stabilize the volatile situation.
