The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has justified its decision to declare former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive, citing his failure to cooperate with investigations.
OSP’s Director of Strategy, Samuel Appiah Darko, stated that multiple invitations were ignored, making the declaration necessary.
“This was not done lightly. He has refused to appear, and his continued absence suggests evasion,” he said on JoyNews.
Critics, however, argue that branding Ofori-Atta a fugitive while he is reportedly seeking medical care abroad is harsh and politically charged.
The controversy has reignited debates over due process and fairness in corruption probes, with many urging the OSP to maintain transparency and avoid perceived bias in its investigations.
