President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed deep regret over the unresolved Bawku conflict, describing it as a personal and national concern despite government efforts.
In his final State of the Nation Address, Akufo-Addo highlighted the resolution of the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute as a key achievement of his presidency but admitted the Bawku conflict tempers that pride.
“It is a matter of great regret and distress to me personally that, despite our best efforts, the Bawku conflict remains unresolved,” he said.
He acknowledged chieftaincy disputes as a growing security threat, calling for stronger support for the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and the National Peace Council to address such issues and ensure lasting peace nationwide.
