Former Ghana School of Law Director, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has strongly criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for labeling former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.

In an interview on JoyNews, he described the move as “barbaric and uncivilized,” arguing that Ofori-Atta remains a Ghanaian citizen who has not been declared a fugitive by any court.

Ansa-Asare questioned the legality and fairness of the OSP’s actions, accusing the office of pursuing politically motivated prosecutions.

He urged Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to reconsider his approach, referencing Article 19 of the Constitution, and warned against using legal processes as political tools.

His remarks come after the OSP’s press briefing, which linked Ofori-Atta to alleged financial mismanagement in projects like the National Cathedral and the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) agreement with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd. (SML).
