Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, has expressed deep concerns over the possible spillover of the Bawku conflict into his region.
His warning follows recent security disturbances in Walewale, which have been linked to the ongoing chieftaincy dispute.
Speaking after a high-level stakeholder meeting, Be-Awuribe stressed the need for urgent security interventions to prevent escalation. He noted that Savannah Region’s geographic proximity to conflict-prone areas makes it vulnerable to infiltration by those seeking to extend hostilities.
Citing Walewale as an example, he warned that unchecked movement could further destabilize the region.
He called for proactive measures to mitigate threats and ensure peace, emphasizing that security agencies must remain vigilant to prevent the conflict from spreading.
