Three people, including a schoolgirl, were killed in renewed clashes in Bawku on November 29, 2024, raising the death toll to 32 in the ongoing conflict.
Gunfire erupted around the Gingande-Zongo area, where homes were also torched, with shootings continuing into the afternoon.
The violence, which began in late October, often escalates during curfew hours.
Rival groups have clashed repeatedly, with ambushes on travelers further heightening tensions.
Sources link the resurgence to the return of exiled chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre, which some believe has fueled hostilities.
The Bawku area, already strained by ethnic and chieftaincy disputes, remains unstable as local authorities struggle to restore order. Many injured victims remain in critical condition.
