A deadly ambush on a bus traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga has left one person dead and five others critically injured.
The attack, which occurred despite military escort, was swiftly contained by security personnel, preventing further casualties.
The injured victims have been transported to the Upper East Regional Hospital for urgent medical care.
The motive for the attack remains unclear but is believed to be linked to the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in Bawku.
This incident follows a recent killing of a woman and her two children by gunmen in military uniforms.
With the death toll from the renewed conflict now at 46 since October 2024, fear among residents has heightened, prompting calls for enhanced security in the region.
