Attorney General got desired ruling on Speaker’s Case - Edudzi Tameklo

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Legal Director, Edudzi Tameklo, has criticized Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame’s response to the recent Supreme Court ruling, which declared the Speaker of Parliament’s statement unconstitutional.

According to Tameklo, Dame previously argued he should be the one to represent the Speaker in constitutional cases, questioning why the Attorney General would now express dissatisfaction with the outcome.

In an interview, Tameklo noted that Dame had even contested the authority of the Speaker’s lawyer, Thaddeus Sory, to represent him.

Tameklo added that the ruling reflects the Supreme Court’s independent role in interpreting the Constitution and that it’s essential to clarify boundaries between Parliament and the Executive to avoid future conflicts.
