Kwame Jantuah, a leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has called on Speaker Alban Bagbin to recall Parliament immediately after the Supreme Court ruled his decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant as unconstitutional.
Jantuah stressed the importance of passing key bills, including the temporary budget for the 2025 government handover, before Parliament rises.
Speaking on TV3, he urged National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmakers to resume their Minority positions and asked the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs to avoid celebrating the ruling to maintain harmony.
The Supreme Court ruled that an MP’s seat can only be vacated if they switch political parties, invalidating Bagbin’s earlier decision.
Parliament is expected to reconvene with NDC MPs reverting to the Minority.
