Speaker recalls Parliament to sit on December 16

Speaker Alban Bagbin has announced the recall of Ghana's Parliament to convene on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10 am.

The venue will be disclosed later.

The session, convened under Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, is aimed at addressing critical national issues before transitioning to the Ninth Parliament.

This recall follows Speaker Bagbin's earlier decision on November 26 to decline the Majority's request for an earlier session, citing the need for decorum and prioritizing national interest.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus supported his decision, arguing the earlier request was unnecessary.

The December 16 meeting underscores the Speaker's commitment to addressing key matters efficiently before the year's end.
