Bagbin’s recent comments on anti-gay bill disappointing – CDD-Ghana officer

Dr. Michael Akagbor, Senior Programmes Officer at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), has expressed disappointment in Speaker Alban Bagbin’s recent remarks on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill.

The Speaker pledged his commitment to the bill’s passage, stating he was willing to pay a personal price.

Criticizing this stance, Dr. Akagbor told Citi News, “Despite the fact that he is the Speaker, he is also entitled to his views and opinions...but it doesn’t translate into law because he is a Speaker of Parliament. So...I am very disappointed.”

He added, “I thought this issue would have been pushed aside...so we would have been more focused on addressing issues...that will put food on the table for Ghanaians.”
