Samuel Nartey George, Minister nominee for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation, has pledged to reignite efforts to pass the controversial anti-gay bill in the 9th Parliament.
During his vetting on January 30, he reaffirmed his strong opposition to LGBTQ+ activities, arguing that the bill is essential to preserving Ghanaian cultural values and societal norms.
Mr. George emphasized that the legislation reflects the will of the people, stressing that it is not about discrimination but upholding national principles.
He dismissed international opposition, insisting that Ghana has the right to shape its laws without external influence.
As a key advocate of the initial bill, which stalled under former President Akufo-Addo, he vowed to collaborate with Parliament to ensure its passage.
