Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensuring the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly called the Anti-LGBTQ Bill, becomes law in 2025.
Addressing NDC supporters and traditional leaders on January 26, Bagbin emphasized his dedication to preserving Ghanaian cultural and moral values, declaring his readiness to make personal sacrifices for the cause.
The bill, passed by Parliament in 2024 but denied presidential assent, will be revisited.
Bagbin announced plans to seek guidance from the Justice Minister and Attorney General to expedite its approval under the current administration.
While supporters see the bill as a defense of Ghanaian traditions, critics caution against its potential human rights implications.
The speaker’s bold stance has reignited national debate.
