Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu has hinted at submitting recommendations to President John Mahama regarding the controversial LGBTQ Bill.
While withholding specifics, he believes his suggestions will align with Ghanaian laws and foster national consensus.
Speaking ahead of the National Muslim Thanksgiving service on January 10, Iddrisu described the LGBTQ issue as a societal challenge requiring collective resolution. “It’s not just a religious matter but a social problem we must address thoughtfully,” he stated.
The LGBTQ Bill seeks to criminalize activities promoting LGBTQ advocacy, sparking national debate.
While proponents defend it as preserving cultural values, critics, including human rights groups, see it as discriminatory.
The Supreme Court recently dismissed challenges to the bill, ruling that constitutional review applies only to enacted laws.
